The Last Few Days on the Thames
September 9th--12thFriday, 9th September
We'd made up our minds we would move today, but then "Shendish" came by. We'd passed each other several times and not been able to stop, so this time they moored up by us and we had a good chat. Shendish was the first boat to have been built by our boatfitters, about seven years ago, and it was interesting to swop notes.
As we were talking, along came another Liberty Belle! We'd seen this boat a couple of times, but never had time to chat to its owners. But Sue and Graham from Shendish knew the owners and so the other Liberty Belle moored up too, and we spent a very pleasant afternoon. The owners of Liberty Belle Mark 2 couldn't throw any light on its name, it already had the name when they bought it.
So we didn't move after all!
Saturday, 10th September
We need to be around this area until Tuesday. Rob, a friend Trev met on a Whispergen course, is coming to do some work on the electrics on the boat and we're also hiring a car on Monday as we need to go to Warwick. We spent the afternoon with Sue & Graham on Shendish.
Sunday, 11th September
The weather has changed. We've had some lovely days, but now it's raining. Rob came to look at the work he's going to do, but decided that it will take quite a time to do it, and so we're going to meet in the winter when he's not so busy. We went down to the water point and filled up and then came back to moor at the same spot. Usually I'm the one who likes to stay in the same place for a few days, but even I'm getting fed up with the inactivity! It will be good to move.
Monday, 12th September
Hooray! After some days of doing very little, at last we're doing something today. We walked up to the road bridge and met the person from the hire car firm. Then we set off to Warwick. We had a busy schedule, and eventually decided to stay overnight with Cherry so that we didn't need to travel back at night. That would have meant tramping over the fields in the dark to get back to the boat.
