Winter in Llangollen 2009/10

We've had a really good winter in Llangollen. There was a friendly atmosphere among the boaters, and we went out for meals together, went ten pin bowling, had a Christmas Eve Barbecue and an Australia Day Barbecue (Jan.26th), despite the snow! There were two Aussies moored up over winter with us in Llangollen, Moira and Mike. In fact they are Brits but have lived in Oz for years. They came over to the UK and bought a narrowboat and have cruised for three years. They will return to Tasmania in May. It was they who organised the two BBQ's and it was also mostly down to them that we had such a social time with the other boaters. Well done, Moira and Mike, we shall miss you both so much.

The winter was very cold, down to -15 at one point, but we kept warm and snug on Liberty Belle, with the multi fuel fire piled high. We had lots of snow. I'm glad that it was last winter and not this one that we went to Austria to see the winter scenery! Unusually for us we haven't been on holiday this time at all--instead we bought a house!

I never thought I'd see the day that Trev would consider looking at a property, he loves the boat so much. But we've found something which suits us both, with a large garden, and are looking forward to getting started on remodelling both the house and the garden. We shall keep Liberty Belle, and use her as much as we can. Life will be busy for us, but that will be far preferable to sitting either side of the fireplace like a pair of bookends, waiting for the van to take us to the Eventide Home!

So postings on the website will take on a different pattern, but do keep coming to look, as I shall keep it going. In the meantime, here are a few photos from the last few months.
